Short bio

Dagmar Breznoscakova, MD, PhD (specialization: psychiatry) is a senior researcher at the Department of Social and Behavioural Medicine UPJS FM. She is also the Vice-president of the Slovak Psychiatric Association, the CPT member Council of Europe in respect of Slovak Republic and governmental expert for Mental Health of Slovak Ministry of Health for European Commission. Furthermore, she is a Chair of the Section of Psychopharmacology Slovak Psychiatric Association, Slovak Medical Association and a Chair of civic association ODOS-KE that brings together health professionals, patients with a chronic disorder, their families, and the general public. Her research interests include preventive psychoeducation and self-management programs for patients with chronic disorders, as well as study of comorbidities. She is registered in the List of Experts of the Ministry of Justice SR and has since worked as a court expert in psychiatry. She successfully completed a 4.5-year European training in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (CBT). Her main research interests are in affective and anxiety disorders, particularly bipolar disorder, comorbidity of mental disorders, psychosomatic connections and specifically on gender issues. She is a (co)author of over 150 publication outputs. She holds prizes for the best original work for the journal Psychiatry practice.
