Prof. Zelmira Macejova, MD, PhD, MPH (specialization: internal medicine / rheumatology) is the Deputy Head for Education at the Department of Internal Medicine UPJS LF and Vice-dean at the Faculty of Medicine UPJS. She also works as a medical doctor/rheumatologist at the Department of Internal Medicine of L. Pasteur University Hospital in Kosice. Her research interests are in resistant forms of inflammatory rheumatic diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, systemic connective tissue disease with multiple organ manifestations; the aetiology, clinical signs, and treatment. She is the initiator of the Centre for the Treatment of Refractory Autoimmune Diseases for Eastern Slovakian Region. She has been the principal investigator of several clinical trials in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, the national coordinator of international studies RAPID and RAPID 2 (Rheumatoid Arthritis Prevention of Structural Damage). In 2012 she received the Slovak Rheumatology Society Award for the best publication. Her track record include 187 publications, of which 12 published in CC journals, and 226 citations, of which 172 are registered in international databases WoS/Scopus, her h-index is 7.
